Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor informed the alumni of the steps that have recently been taken to galvanize the activities of the University with a view to scaling new heights among the seats of higher learning. He also shared the roadmap for development of the university highlighting various capacity building projects. Among the development projects, the Vice Chancellor especially mentioned about the need for immediate construction of a 11-storey academic building, a 10-storey students' dormitory, a 6-storey studio apartment building, a 3-storey staff lounge with a guest house and vertical extension by four levels on the existing six levels of the female dormitory along with other ancillary facilities.
While putting emphasis on the need for ramping up the existing rapport between the University and the alumni community, Prof. Islam urged upon the alumni association to come forward to help develop their alma mater in the forms of moral, material and intellectual support.

The alumni representatives were of the view that the alumni community of major and prestigious universities around world plays a great role in mobilizing financial resources for their respective universities. The IUT alumni are also in a position to contribute to the endowment fund of the university as many of them are in a position of authority and power in different countries.
The meeting ended with a luncheon hosted by Vice Chancellor.
