The department of Technical and Vocational Education (TVE) successfully organized a four-day International Workshop (06-January-2026 to 09-January-2026) on Capacity Building for Pedagogical Excellence and Quality Education in TVET Institutions of OIC Member States that aimed at building Future-Ready Technical Educators. In today’s rapidly changing world, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is no longer confined to the mere transmission of technical skills. Rather, it has evolved into a vital pillar of an industry-linked, technology-driven, and human-centered education system. Within this context, training on TVET Pedagogy and Andragogy has become critically important for teachers, instructors, and training managers. While pedagogy emphasizes learner-centered approaches traditionally applied to school-age learners, andragogy prioritizes adult learners’ prior experiences, self-directed learning, and practical, problem-based approaches. The integration of these two approaches in TVET education makes training more effective, relevant, and outcome oriented. The key objectives of the Workshop include: • Developing competencies for the effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE). • Designing and delivering Competency-Based Training (CBT) and modular curricula. • Enhancing the use of Industry 4.0 technologies, digital tools, and smart classroom practices. • Applying Work-Based Learning (WBL), apprenticeships, and authentic, workplace-oriented assessment strategies. • Fostering learners’ critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and lifelong learning mindset. Most importantly, this workshop aligns TVET education with labor market demands, enhances employability, and plays a significant role in developing a skilled workforce in support of sustainable development goals. Therefore, Workshop on TVET Pedagogy and Quality Education is not merely a professional development program; it is the foundation of a modern, inclusive, and future-oriented TVET education system.

The Directorate of Technical Education, under the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh, has successfully launched a major training program titled “Institution Supported & Feedback Oriented Advanced Pedagogy TVET”, organized by the TVE Department at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) in collaboration with the Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) project. This training programme is funded by the World Bank. The program was officially launched on 27th September 2024 and marks the beginning of a year-long effort to enhance technical education and training in Bangladesh. With Prof. Dr. Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of IUT, serving as the chief patron, the project is being led by Prof. Dr. Md. Shahadat Hossain Khan and Prof. Dr. Md Abdullah Al Mamun as the Project Coordinator. The program focuses on innovative teacher training, inclusive pedagogy, e-learning, and aligned assessments. It aims to equip TVET educators and instructors with the skills to implement modern, student-centered teaching approaches. This initiative is set to transform technical and vocational education, fostering improved learning outcomes and advancing the development of the TVET sector in Bangladesh.
