The University
LOCATION & CLIMATE
The University is located at Board Bazar, Gazipur, about 30 km north of Dhaka (Latitude = 23° 43'N, Longitude = 90°25'E), the capital of Bangladesh. The capital is served by an International Airport with widely developed airlines network with the rest of the world and by satellite telecommunication.
There are three well-defined seasons in a year, namely: the Winter (November-February), the Summer (March-May) and the Monsoon or Rainy season (June-October). The temperature ranges between a minimum of 7°C in the winter and an average of 32°C during the summer. The average yearly rainfall is 225 cm. Relative humidity varies from about 30% in the winter to over 90% in the Rainy season.
PHYSICAL FACILITIES
The Campus of IUT is spread over an area of 30 acres of land. The architectural plan and design of the Campus were done by M.D. Pamir, a renowned Turkish architect. Most of the physical facilities as envisaged in the project have been developed. The physical layout is shown on the inside front cover.
The following buildings with a total floor area of about 35,393 m2 have been built.

A second 5-storeyed Academic Building is going to be constructed soon with the financing under IDB Loan.
