Research Center

There are 2 different Research Centers.

  • Energy and Environment Centre [EEC]
  • Department of Research, Extension and Advisory Services and Publication [REASP]

EEC:

Energy and Environment Centre (EEC) has been established in June 1998 with the objective of developing human resources in the fields of energy and environment for benefit of the Member Countries of the OIC, with special emphasis on the interrelationship between the two areas. Issues related to technology, society, policy and above all sustainability are considered to embance energy consciousness and environment responsibility among the people. It is time now to pay attention to the prevention of environment degradation for safe and healthy living.

The Centre will continuously assess the training needs, prepare appropriate training and course materials, arrange short courses, workshops and seminars in cooperation with other OIC organs and bodies as well as relevant national, regional and international organisations, and develop facilities of international standard to meet the growing demands of the OIC countries in the fields of energy and environment. An International Conference and workshop on "Critical Issues in Energy and Development- Challenges for the OIC Countries", organised by the Centre, was successfully held in Dhaka on 20-23 November 2000. Keynote papers, technical papers and workshop papers related to energy were presented by reputed authors from USA and fourteen OIC Countries including the host country, Bangladesh. The centre also successfully organized an international short training course on "Natural Disaster Mitigation" jointly with the United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) on 11-15 May 2008, in which resource persons and participants from Bangladesh and other OIC countries participated. The Centre is planning to hold in near future a similar Conference on environment. At present the centre is offering four energy-related theoritical subjects (with respective practicals) as specialisation courses to Mechanical Engineering students.
