Library

The students spend a lot of their time at IUT Library. It is located in the first floor of the Library/Cafeteria Building overlooking a beautiful waterpool both on the eastern and western sides. The library has a present floor area of 1300 sq. meter with a shelf space of 52,000 books. The library is fully air-conditioned and well furnished with modern furniture. The library is divided into two sections, General and Research/Reference.

IUT Library has a database of its information resources. Information users may search their desired books/information resources through on-line public access catalog (OPAC). This database may also be browsed through library website http://library.iut-dhaka.edu at any time. Circulation system has been computerized and information consumers can borrow their needed books through automated bar-code system.

At present there are 30,000 books on science, engineering & technology, technical education, religious and vocational subjects. Twenty technical journals are being subscribed from home and abroad annually. The library has also the collection of papers of short course, seminar, and workshop etc. There are around 100 CD-ROM on different discipline of knowledge especially of English Language. Library has the collection of 480 Projects/theses conducted by the IUT students. The library is managed by a group of expert personnel. It is an open shelf library. Books are issued to the students and faculty members for home use. It is open from 8.00 am to 10.00 pm on all working days. Library is also open on one weekend (Saturday) between 2-00 pm. to 10 pm. It has photocopy section which servers the purpose of the students, faculty, and office staff constantly. Since all the students live in campus the library is the only place where they can utilize their time by reading books and taking notes upto 10-00 pm on all working days.

IUT information users have access to on-line journals of PERI (Programme for Enhancement of Research Information) Programme of INASP (International Network on Availability of Scientific Publications) of UK. More than five thousand titles of journal of different disciplines like science and technology, engineering, computer science, environmental science, education, social science, life science etc. of the renowned publishers now available on-line for IUT information user as per mentioned mode/form stated below:

Besides the above-mentioned subscribed publishers of the INASP Network IUT information users have also free access to the following web-site of different disciplines. 

 List of participating publishers are also available in the IUT website (http://iutoic-dhaka.edu). To access the mentioned website from IUT campus password is not required. Click here to view the title of Journals for each of these publishers

IUT Library has the Internet facility. Information consumers now have the access to the different database of knowledge.
