The promotion of science
and technology is one of the most pressing priorities
of the Islamic World in the new century. The real
wealth of a country lie not so much in its natural
resources as in the quality of education of its
people and their ability to put their education
to good use for national development, particularly
through the application of science and technology.
Human resource development in the field of science
and technology, therefore, remains one of the cherished
objectives of the OIC.
The contribution of
the Islamic University of Technology towards this
noble objective is evident from its brilliant record.
We have noted with satisfaction the impressive strides
made by the University despite the handicaps it
faces. I earnestly request the member states to
come forward with material and moral support for
the IUT to enable it to achieve its noble objectives
as set out by the OIC for the benefit of the member
states and the Islamic Ummah as a whole.
I take this opportunity
to thank the government of the People’s Republic
of Bangladesh for the generous support it has so
willingly extended to this institution. Without
this support, it would not have been possible for
it to grow and flower into such a laudable seat
of learning as the Islamic University of Technology.
To the graduating
students, I extend my felicitations and best wishes
on the successful culmination of their students.
It is our hope and prayer that they will play a
useful and fruitful role in the developmental process
of their respective countries and the Ummah.
The Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Dr. M. Anwar Hossain, and his team of
dedicated educationists have earned our appreciation
for their role in maintaining the high standard
of the quality of education being imparted at the
University.
May Allah Almighty
bless our efforts in the service of the Islamic
Ummah.
Dr. Abdelouahed Belkeziz
Secretary General,
OIC &
Chancellor, IUT
