For either Master of Science or Master of Engineering

degree, the total credit requirement is 36 credit hours

which may be normally completed in three semesters each consisting of 16 weeks. Master of Engineering programme is primarily based on course work while a great part of Master of Science programme contains thesis work. On the other hand, total credit requirement for Post-Graduate Diploma is 24 credit hours mainly based on course work which may normally be completed in two semesters.

The selected candidates of the above post-graduate programmes are to be fully self-financed for all the expenses including the expenses for food, accommodation, tuition, normal medicare, etc., as mentioned in the paragraph on “Financing the Educational Cost”. Normally a sum of US$ 3200* per year (of two semesters) per candidate is to be deposited to IUT in the form of Demand Draft/Pay Order favouring Islamic University of Technology before reporting to the University for registration. However, one scholarship to the extent of 50% of the total cost is available for an exceptionally meritorious student in each Department. A limited number of teaching / research assistantships may be available to meritorious students on the recommendation of the Head of the Department.

Minimum Entry Requirements

For admission to Ph.D programme the candidate should have a Masters Degree with a CGPA of 3 out of 5 or 2.5 out of 4.

For admission to the courses leading to M.Sc. Engg./ M.Engg./M.Sc.CIT/ Postgraduate Diploma in any branch, a candidate must have obtained B.Sc.Engg./4-year B.Sc.in any branch of Computer or equivalent with good grades in the relevant branch. For admission to the course leading to M.Sc. /Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Science and Applications, a candidate must have Bachelor of Science degree in any field of Engineering or 4-year B.Sc. degree or its equivalent with sufficient background of Mathematics and Computer.

(B) Four-Year Bachelor of Science Programme

The 4-Year B.Sc. Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical & Electronic) courses comprise of eight consecutive semesters of sixteen weeks duration each, spread over four academic years. The total contact hours in classes, laboratories and workshops are 25-30 hours per week. The course curricula contain engineering science of high level as well as include components for hands-on-experience, to produce graduate engineers of international standard having relevance to the development needs of the Member States.

The 4-year programme of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Information Technology trains the students in the basics and advanced courses in computing such as computer architecture, networks, operating systems, database management, object oriented programming, web page development, multi-media etc., in addition to some basic courses in science and mathematics. The students will have hands-on experience on different types of recent soft ware under various operating systems. E-mail and internet facility are also available in the Computer Centre of the University.

On completion of the course, the student will be able to work independently as computer programmer, system analyst, network administrator, software engineer etc.

A sum of US$ 5,000· per candidate selected for admission into the Bachelor of Science programmes (Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology) is to be deposited to IUT at a time in the form of Demand Draft/Pay Order favouring Islamic University of Technology before reporting to the University for registration. Some scholarships are however available for exceptionally meritorious students securing first position in public examinations of Education Board/University. Any student failing and requiring more than 4 years for graduation will have to pay additional sum of money for additional year(s) as per rule as decided for each extra year.

Minimum Entry Requirements

University entrance requirements i.e. Higher/Upper Secondary School Certificate (science background) from a Board/University or its equivalent. The candidates are required to have good grades in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.

(C) Integrated Higher Diploma/B.Sc. Programmes

Higher Diploma in Engineering / Computer Science and  Information Technology programme is integrated with the 4-Year B.Sc. Engineering / B.Sc. CIT Programme. If the Member States nominate their candidates for this programme and if they are selected, on successful completion of three years of study they will be awarded Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering or Computer Science and Information Technology.  There are specializations in Automotive for Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering and Power System Technology for Higher Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Web Technology for Higher Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology.

On further nomination from their nominating authorities, the Higher Diploma in Engineering (HDE) or HD CIT graduates may continue to complete the respective remaining courses of B.Sc. Engineering / B.Sc. CIT   programme on full self-financed basis. A sum of US$ 5500 per academic year per candidate allowed for continuation is to be deposited to IUT in the form of Demand Draft/Pay Order favouring Islamic University of Technology before registration in the B.Sc. Engineering / B.Sc.CIT  Programme. The Higher Diploma programmes need no fees.

Minimum Entry Requirements

These are same as those for B.Sc. Engineering/B.Sc. Computer Science and Information Technology programme stated above in para I (B).
